As I write this I just finished out a very Happy Thanksgiving full of yummy food and good friends here in Gainesville, GA. As I do so I am thinking about each and every one of you who follow my journey and support me in friendship, love, prayers, and your hard earned cash!
Tomorrow I head out to my FINAL debrief for G-squad who left the country January 16th and will finally be arriving back to the USA December 1st. Before I left I wanted to send an update from October when I ran my 2019 January Squad’s Training Camp! 😀
Yes, I will be continuing on with Adventures in Missions as a Squad Mentor in 2019. I am very excited to see what God will do in and through this next group of young daring Jesus-lovers. Here’s some info below about Training camp that we do here in Gainesville for our participants.
Training Camp is a 10 day intensive training. The schedule starts at 8am (if not earlier) and goes until 10-11pm… for 10 days straight yes. It’s crazy but also yes, it’s glorious. Glorious to watch God work in these young adults lives. Glorious how God reveals himself deeper to them and glorious how much love and connection grows between each squad community over such a short time.
During training camp we aim to prepare the squad physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We have workout challenges and a mandatory hike with their pack. We desire to see our squad physically healthy so that they will be able to go anywhere God calls them to go and not be bound by physical conditions. We also enjoyed teachings designed to grow us as individuals by reflecting and working through internal healing in any areas of brokenness in our past or current experiences. The racers learn very practical information about life on the race. They learn about cultural sensitivities, feedback, community, how to share about Jesus cross culturally, and much more!
My Squad for January 2019 are called T-Squad. There are 14 of them total; 7 boys and 7 girls. Getting to know them during Training Camp was awesome! They are teachable and have a deep hunger and thirst for the Holy Spirit. I am so excited and blessed to be working with them next year!
